Imagine what you could be buying instead.
Eligibility
Wagering services are restricted to persons who are at least 18 years of age, who are physically located in Australia, and whose participation is not prohibited by any law applicable to the customer.
Account opening and identity verification
An account holder must complete identity verification under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) before any wager is accepted. palmerbat may request additional documentation at any time and may suspend account activity pending the outcome of that verification. All new accounts are screened against the National Self-Exclusion Register established under the National Self-Exclusion Register (Cost Recovery Levy) Act 2019 (Cth) and Part 7B of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (Cth) (the BetStop framework) before activation, and an account will not be activated where the applicant appears on the Register.
Wager acceptance
A wager is accepted only when displayed as confirmed inside the account. The trading desk may decline, cancel, or void any wager at its discretion in accordance with the rules published with the relevant market.
Settlement rules
Settlement of wagers is governed by the following high-level rules, which are supplemented by the sport- and code-specific rules published on our Sports and Racing pages. Where any inconsistency arises, the sport- or code-specific rules prevail to the extent of that inconsistency.
- Wagers must be placed and confirmed before the published cut-off time for the relevant event or market; any wager that the system records after the cut-off may be voided.
- Events that are abandoned, postponed beyond the published reschedule window, or otherwise not completed are void unless a result has already been determined under the rules of the relevant market.
- Late scratchings in racing markets are treated in accordance with the deductions table published on our Racing page.
- Dead heats are settled on a proportional stake basis in accordance with the dead-heat rule published with the relevant market.
- Protests, objections and stewards' inquiries are settled on the official result declared by the relevant controlling body, including any amendment on protest where the market rules provide for protest application.
- Photo-finish results are settled on the official placings declared by the relevant racing controlling body.
- Markets may be suspended at the trading desk's discretion, including during in-play incidents, and wagers attempted during suspension will not be accepted.
- Manifest pricing errors and palpable errors may be voided in accordance with the published market rules.
Payments
Deposits are accepted by eligible debit-card payments, BPay, PayID, Apple Pay and Google Pay where linked to an eligible debit card. Cryptocurrency, consumer credit cards (including BNPL) and third-party payment instruments are not accepted. Funding via consumer credit is restricted under the Interactive Gambling Amendment (Credit and Other Measures) Act 2023.
Withdrawals
Withdrawals are processed subject to identity verification, payment screening, AML/CTF checks and standard business-day banking schedules. Processing times vary by payment instrument and by the time of submission. No withdrawal fees apply.
Protection of customer funds
Under the conditions of palmerbat’s Racing New South Wales (Racing NSW) bookmaker licence, customer funds are held in trust segregated from the operator’s general operating funds. Segregated funds are not used for operational expenditure.
Limits on stakes and maximum payouts
palmerbat may impose per-customer, per-market and per-event stake limits, and may apply maximum-payout caps per bet, per market and per customer per event. Limits are applied for integrity, liquidity and responsible wagering reasons and may be varied at the trading desk's discretion. Any portion of a wager in excess of an applicable limit may be reduced or rejected before acceptance.
Promotions, bonuses and inducements
Any promotion, bonus, offer or reward is made available only to eligible, verified account holders, and is never offered as an inducement to open an account. In accordance with the Betting and Racing Act 1998 (NSW) and the National Consumer Protection Framework, palmerbat does not publish gambling inducements or sign-up offers to persons who are not logged-in account holders. Current offers and their full terms are available to signed-in customers at /promotions.php.
Where an offer is made available, the full written terms of that specific offer prevail and will disclose, at a minimum: eligibility criteria; the value and form of the benefit; any turnover, wagering or qualifying-bet requirement; minimum odds; any maximum payout or maximum bonus-derived winnings; the period for which the offer and any resulting funds are valid; permitted and excluded markets; and the circumstances in which the offer or any bonus funds may be withdrawn, forfeited or treated as void. No offer carries a hidden, undisclosed or retrospective condition. palmerbat may withdraw or vary any offer prospectively, and may withhold a benefit where the offer terms have been breached or where the account has engaged in bonus abuse or multi-accounting for promotional benefit.
Fees and charges
palmerbat does not charge an account-opening fee, an account-maintenance fee or a withdrawal fee. No commission is deducted from winning wagers; settled returns are paid at the confirmed price. Customers remain responsible for any fee that their own bank or payment provider may charge in connection with a deposit or withdrawal. Any fee that may apply in exceptional circumstances (for example, currency conversion by a third-party processor) is disclosed before the relevant transaction is confirmed.
Anti-fraud, collusion and integrity
Customers must not operate or be associated with multiple accounts, betting syndicates concealed behind a single account, third-party agency arrangements, match-fixing or spot-fixing schemes, courtsiding, or any form of bonus abuse, multi-accounting for promotional benefit, or collusive activity. palmerbat cooperates with Sport Integrity Australia, the relevant racing controlling bodies, sporting controlling bodies and law-enforcement agencies on integrity matters, and may share customer and wagering information with those bodies for integrity, investigative and regulatory purposes. Accounts engaged in conduct of the kind described in this clause may be suspended or closed and balances may be withheld pending investigation.
palmerbat operates under race-fields agreements with the relevant Australian principal racing authorities and cooperates with them and with Sport Integrity Australia on integrity matters.
Inactive and dormant accounts
An account is treated as inactive where there has been no customer-initiated login and no wagering activity for a continuous period of twelve (12) months. palmerbat will use the contact details on file to notify the customer before applying any dormancy treatment, and dormant balances will be handled in accordance with Racing NSW requirements and applicable unclaimed-money legislation.
Use of customer data
Personal information is collected, held, used and disclosed in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. The detailed handling, disclosure and access arrangements are set out in the Privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Responsible wagering
palmerbat encourages customers to use the responsible wagering tools provided and to avoid wagering more than they can afford to lose. See Responsible wagering, Deposit limits, and Self-exclusion and BetStop.
Taxation
Wagering winnings are generally not subject to Australian income tax for recreational customers. Customers are responsible for assessing the tax treatment of their wagering activity in their own circumstances.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, palmerbat is not liable for indirect, consequential, special or incidental loss, including loss of profits or anticipated winnings, arising out of or in connection with the use of the service, system unavailability, market errors that are corrected under the published market rules, or any third-party act or omission. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy conferred by the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
Termination and account closure
palmerbat may suspend or close a customer account at its discretion, including for breach of these terms, regulatory or integrity reasons, AML/CTF reasons, or where the customer's continued participation is inconsistent with the operator's responsible wagering obligations. A customer may close their account at any time by written request through the customer support channels. On closure, any verified balance net of pending wagers and lawful deductions is returned to the customer through a verified withdrawal method in the customer's name, and palmerbat retains transaction, identity and account records for the periods required by the AML/CTF Act, the Racing NSW bookmaker licence conditions and other applicable laws.
Dispute resolution
A customer with a complaint must first raise the matter through palmerbat's internal complaints process described on our Complaints page. Where the complaint is not resolved to the customer's satisfaction, the customer may escalate to Racing New South Wales (Racing NSW) for licensing and conduct matters, to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) for in-scope financial-services matters, and to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) for privacy matters.
Variations and changes to these terms
palmerbat may amend these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to customers by email and on-site notice at least thirty (30) days before they take effect, and continued use of the account or the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the amended terms. Changes required by a regulator, by law, or by the conditions of the Racing NSW bookmaker licence may take effect immediately on publication.
Governing law
